The recipe is simple: egg whites, ground almonds, and powdered sugar. However, the tricky part is getting the consistency right, shaping them correctly, and baking them to perfection. A proper French macaron should have a round shape, the right height, and a slightly crispy exterior with a melt-in-the-mouth meringue that's just a little bit chewy.
