Which flying experience can bring you breathtaking views, and an even more breathtaking adrenaline rush as you freefall through the air and descend back to earth? We are of course talking about Parachuting experiences.
And what's more exhilarating than throwing yourself out of a plane and experiencing freefall before pulling the cord and gliding to safety? Not a lot actually! Our Parachuting Experiences are operated to the highest safety standards, so you can relax and enjoy the decent views as you descend from thousands of feet up in the air.
Those who seek insane thrills with their flying will be in their element, free falling out of the plane as you jump from heights of around 13,000 ft, at unbelievable wind speeds of around 120 mph that you will find hard to forget in a hurry.
It's definitely a flying experience that requires some serious nerve holding, but the euphoria and sense of achievement that comes at the end when you've completed your jump is simply unbeatable. It's for this reason that many people with a fear of heights take on Parachuting to help with conquering this fear - and how!
About Parachuting Experiences
The origins of parachuting date back to the 15th century. Back then, they were more commonly used for military and reconnaissance purposes - in both World Wars, for example - but nowadays, they are used more for recreational and civil flying and aviation, offering great fun to those who take it on.
How it works is a dome shaped piece of fabric - typically, nylon or polyester is used these days - that is held within a deployment bag strapped to the back of the person being parachuted - and slows the motion of the person through the air by creating the drag as the opposing force.
What To Expect on a Parachuting Experience
Upon arrival at the venue, the excitement and the nerves will undoubtedly be building, as you receive a full safety briefing of what to expect, and most importantly what you need to do and be aware of when you're up in the air.
Once you've had your fitting for your equipment needed for your jump, the adrenaline levels will be high as you head off into the air. As the aircraft engine roars and the door opens, it's time to prepare yourself for the jump of a lifetime.
It all happens in moments, but as you jump out and into the sky as your freefall begins and you speed through the air, before your parachute deploys and you begin your graceful descent back to earth, the sense of disbelief and energy at what you've just experienced and completed hits you!
Tandem Parachuting and Static Line Parachuting
The difference between Tandem Skydiving and Static Line Parachuting is quite simple, although both offer the same amount of excitement. With Static Line Parachuting, you are jumping solo, via a cord that is attached to the plane.
Upon jumping out, the parachute opens automatically, without you needing to pull the cord to open it, and you have full control over how the flight progresses from the moment you jump out the plane.
With Tandem Skydiving, as the name suggests, you are connected to the harness which is attached to your instructor who you jump with, and they will guide the flight throughout the whole jump, thus eliminating a lot of the pressure of controlling the parachute yourself, so you can just enjoy the experience as it is!
For those wanting to experience the thrills of parachuting and skydiving, without leaving the ground, our Indoor Skydiving experiences offer the same adrenaline rush, recreated in a powerful wind tunnel at one of four dedicated iFLY centres located across the UK, in Manchester, Milton Keynes, Basingstoke and London at The O2.
Parachuting Experience Locations
We've assembled some of the best locations that accommodate parachuting experiences across the UK. Up in the North of England, this includes Shotton in County Durham and Flookburgh in Cumbria.
Down South meanwhile, there's Peterborough in Cambridgeshire and over the border into East Anglia, there's Ellough in Suffolk. So no matter where you're based in the UK, the chances are a parachuting experience is nearer to you than you might think.
