About the experience

Attention! If you’ve ever wondered how the daily Changing of the Guards ceremony outside Buckingham Palace takes place, then this special London walking tour is the one you’ll want to book onto. The tour begins at Piccadilly Circus - yes, you did read that correctly. For as your host and guide for the tour will explain, the main crux of mounting the guard in the ceremony doesn’t actually take place outside the Palace. You’ll instead get to visit hidden locations to witness the cavalry and infantry soldiers of the King’s guard preparing for the ceremony, ready for inspection - something that the reams of tourists outside the gates of the Palace won’t be privy to! As the tour gathers pace from Wellington Barracks towards the Palace, you’ll even find yourself marching along beside the soldiers, dressed in their instantly recognisable red blazer and bearskin hats. With the sound of the drums and the pipes echoing around the Mall, you’ll be as much as six feet away from them, really taking in all the pomp and circumstance as the Old Guard changes over to the New Guard!
