About the experience

Experience a Piper Club flight departing from a historic airfield in the heart of West Sussex. Shoreham Airfield is the oldest licensed serving airport in the UK and was opened to air traffic in 1910. It’s safe to say you will be in excellent hands when you board the 1952 Piper Cub PA18 aircraft and learn how to fly it. The airfield itself has a wide ranging history, but so does this particular aircraft as it was used in the 1930s for aerial reconnaissance during D-Day in World War Two. If you’re a history buff who fancies taking to the skies, this is the perfect experience for you. At just 20 minutes, it’s enough for you to get a taste of the skies over Brighton and learn how to take basic control of the aircraft with instructions on climbing, descending and banked turns. Flying from this historic airfield is an experience in itself topped off with a plane rich in military history and views over Brighton that will have you marveling as you take in the birds eye view of the coastline and pier. With easy access to the airfield from the A27 and availability all year round, this experience is ideal for the aviation fan in your life who wants to enjoy a slither of vintage aircraft history.
