Our well-maintained airfield, situated on the border between South Yorkshire and North Nottinghamshire, offers a range of 15, 30, and 60-minute flying experiences, making it the perfect destination for flying enthusiasts. Netherthorpe Airfield has been a renowned hub for aviation enthusiasts since 1933. Our airfield started with a group of pilots flying Tiger Moths. After serving as an RAF base, we've been catering to the needs of civil aviation since 1961 with the arrival of the first Sheffield aero club. At Netherthorpe, our pilots are fully CAA accredited and have extensive flying experience. Your flying lesson will start with a ground briefing to familiarize you with the basic controls of the aircraft and explain how your experience will unfold. From the moment you take off, you'll have the opportunity to take control of the plane yourself. Our two-seater light sports aircraft is perfect for the ultimate flying experience. - Minimum age of 14 years old
- Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult on the airfield
- Photographic ID will be required on the day
- Maximum weight 15 stone
- Maximum height 6ft 1ins
- Tuesdays to Sundays (closed Mondays) throughout the year, subject to weather conditions and availability
- Although time slots are allocated please be aware that aircraft lessons are subject to a number of factors which may potentially cause delay to your scheduled time
- Whilst every effort will be made to help keep you on time we ask for a degree of latitude owing to the nature of flying, air traffic delays and weather considerations
