If you're based in Dorset and fancy taking to the skies like you never have before, this Wing Walking Experience should tick all the boxes! Your venue for this totally insane flying experience, that sees you strapped to the top wing of a vintage Boeing Stearman biplane, will be Henstridge Airfield, a general aviation airfield with World War II origins, based near the quiet, sleepy village of Templecombe on the border between Dorset and Somerset, and just under 25 minutes drive from the hillside set town of Shaftesbury, the site of the famous Gold Hill used in the Hovis TV adverts in the 1970s. Wing walking from here, however, promises vertiginous climbs of a very different variety! And it's certainly one for the daredevils out there, as you're hit with the full force of the elements on the top wing, with wind speeds of up to 120 mph, all whilst diving at angles of up to 35 degrees when on flypasts.     • Stand on the wing of an authentic Boeing Stearman Biplane as a highly qualified pilot completes a variety of flypasts and manoeuvres.
    • Receive a personalised Wing Walk Experience certificate.
    • Allow for spending up to two hours on-site, and the flight itself will last 10 minutes.
    • Invite up to 50 friends or family to watch your wing walk experience

    Video Recording

    •  A recording of your flight is available for an additional charge on the day (currently £50)
    • Two high-resolution cameras fitted to the aircraft create an amazing two-picture split-screen video, including pilot commentary.
    • Receive your recording on a branded USB memory stick with a lanyard to take away after the flight as a memento of your experience.

    Please note: It is a condition of CAA approval that you must be fully aware that Wing Walking carries a higher risk than a normal commercial flight (e.g. when you fly on holiday). The operator of these experiences will brief you clearly on the risks that have been identified and how they have been mitigated to make the experiences as safe as possible. You will receive an in-depth briefing on the day of your flight and have the opportunity to ask any questions before signing a disclaimer, as well as confirm the briefing and risk acceptance.

    • Selected dates between April and October
    • Displays can be scheduled to take place between 10 am and 4 pm
    • Numbers for each date are limited and operate on a first-come, first-served basis
    • All flights are weather-dependent; if your display is cancelled due to poor weather, an alternative date will be arranged

    • Please be aware that wing walking carries a higher risk than a 'normal' airline flight and these risks will be clearly explained to you on the day
    • Maximum height 6ft 2ins (it may be possible to accommodate those over this height for those with a shorter upper body, please check before purchase)
    • Wing Walkers must be between 18 and 80 years old
    • Maximum weight is 89kg with clothes and shoes on. Participants will be weighed on the day. If over the weight limit you will forfeit your experience
    • You need to be able to climb up to the top wing of the aircraft (around 10 feet)
    • You cannot take part if you have or are suffering from Epilepsy, fits, severe head injury, blackouts, fainting or giddiness, disease of the brain or nervous system, high blood pressure, heart or lung disease, recurrent weakness or dislocation of any limb, diabetes, mental illness, drug or alcohol addiction although if managed by diet or medication you may be able to participate and should contact your GP/Consultant
    • If you have any pre-existing medical conditions which you feel may prevent you from taking part you should consult your doctor
    • You cannot fly if you are pregnant
    • All wing walkers will be required to sign a disclaimer prior to taking part
    • You will be securely attached to the aircraft at all times using a purpose-built CAA-approved harness and rig
    • You should wear a couple of layers of close-fitting, comfortable clothing and flat-soled lace-up footwear
    • Earplugs and goggles are provided
    • Jewellery will need to be removed for the display
    • Pets are not allowed on the airfield
    • You cannot consume alcohol or drugs before a flight; tests may be applied if you are suspected of breaking these rules
    • You can invite up to 50 guests to watch
    • Great opportunities for photographs and video recordings to be taken
    • The airfield has a Club house with an outside spectator area providing
    • Car parking, toilets and catering facilities are located on site

Just wanted to message to say thank you so much for a fantastic experience, I thoroughly enjoyed my wing walking. Communication from yourselves at Into the blue and the staff at Henstridge Airport were amazing, very helpful and super friendly. As you can see by the pictures, I couldnt have picked a better day the weather was glorious Would highly recommend this experience and me and my partner are very much looking forward to our next experience in August.

Absolutely amazing and such a kind helpful team of people. Having recently had my veins done I struggled to heave myself up onto the wing but an extra pair of hands helpfully gave me a heave from behind to get me there....to rapturous cheers from the crowd. Felt safe and informed and would highly recommend the experience .

I recently did a wing walking experience at Henstridge, and it was absolutely amazing From start to finish, the day was so well organised the staff and organisers were brilliant, friendly, and made everything run smoothly. The experience itself was incredible, such an adrenaline rush and so much fun Id highly recommend it to anyone whos thinking about doing it you wont regret it
