Glide along the River Soar on a guided kayaking or paddleboarding adventure, stopping mid-journey for a well-earned drink or bite to eat at a cosy local pub. With an expert instructor leading the way, you will learn the basics of your chosen watersport while taking in peaceful views of Leicestershire’s largest river.

Your day begins at Proctor’s Park, where you will collect your equipment and meet your instructor. After a brief introduction, you will spend a few hours paddling along the river, learning new skills and enjoying the surrounding wildlife and countryside. Whether you prefer the stability of a kayak or the elevated views of a paddleboard, it’s a calming, scenic way to spend time on the water. Midway through, you will step ashore at your chosen riverside pub to enjoy a drink—or a hearty meal—as boats drift by. Once you’re refreshed, you’ll hop back onto the water for a peaceful paddle back to your starting point.

The Watersports and Pub Trip on the River Soar is a brilliant way to experience the beauty of Barrow-On-Soar, Quorn, and Mountsorrel while getting some gentle exercise. It also makes a fun and memorable gift for anyone who loves the outdoors or life on the water.

    This River Soar activity is suitable for those over the age of 18.

    You do not need any previous kayaking experience, but a moderate level of fitness is required.

    You will occasionally be required to go under low bridges, which may require you to lie down depending on the water levels. You may also need to carry your kayak short distances.

    Alcohol consumption is discouraged.

  • You will be equipped with a kayak, buoyancy aid, helmet and paddle.

    Please note that there are no changing facilities.

    You should wear swimwear with clothing and shoes that you don't mind getting wet, and bring a change of clothes with you. A dry bag and a towel are also advisable.
