Details for the Two Day Axe Making Course in Derbyshire

Product ID: 17354

Head to Derbyshire for an immersive two-day axe-making course in the heart of the Peak District. Guided by skilled blacksmiths, you will learn to forge your own practical hatchet axe using traditional tools and techniques. Over two hands-on days, you will work in a purpose-built workshop set in the beautiful Derbyshire countryside. With access to professional forges, a gas furnace and specialist tools, you will be taught every stage of the process — from selecting high-grade carbon steel to forging, grinding, heat-treating and finally hafting your axe. The result is a fully functional, handcrafted hatchet that’s ideal for wood chopping, bushcraft and outdoor use — not just a decorative keepsake. This experience is best suited to those with some prior blacksmithing experience, particularly anyone who’s completed the one-day taster course at this Peak District farm. It’s an intensive but hugely rewarding couple of days at the forge. There are plenty of nearby accommodation options if you wish to stay overnight, including charming Peak District villages such as Youlgreave and the popular market town of Bakewell.
