About the experience

Product ID: 17092

Fancy getting up close and personal with some adorable little monkeys? Head to Essex, just outside Waltham Abbey, for a cheeky Tamarin experience that will leave you grinning from ear to ear. Tamarins are small but mighty, native to Central South America. They’re incredibly intelligent, curious, and love to show off their playful side. During your visit, you’ll be guided by a friendly ranger who’ll share everything there is to know about these fascinating creatures and their recreated habitat in Essex. You’ll spend around 20-30 minutes interacting with the Tamarins, and yes, you can help feed them too – it’s as fun as it sounds! These little monkeys are used to people, so don’t be shy. After your monkey time, feel free to explore the rest of the mini zoo, which is home to all sorts of critters, from reptiles to birds, and even a few mammals. The experience is designed for two or three people, making it perfect for families or couples who want a more intimate adventure.

Having lost my Dad recently I took my Mum here as it would have been my Dads birthday today. Donna, Rob Charlotte made us feel very welcome and the experience was a very welcome distraction from what could have been an awful day. We prebooked the mandarin monkey experience but while there decided to add on the furry package where we got to hold cuddle 6 different furies. All the animals there are rescues and I have the highest praise for anyone that not only dedicates their time but their lives to helping animals that have been neglected, abused andor abandoned. The experience really made our day and we cannot thank the staff enough.

This was a wonderful experience. My Mum I both had a little monkey sitting on out lap eating banana grapes, which they actually prefer The people were lovely and the place was beautifully decorated designed to perfection, even the wash basins having animal themed taps While there we enjoyed it so much that we added on the furry experience where we got to hold cuddle a bunny, a mini hedgehog, a gerbil a ferret. I would definitely recommend this experience and plan to go again.

The Tamarin Monkeys Kim and Aggie were lovely and very inquisitive. The lady was also very informative.Get to Know animals was a small but good animal encounter and we spent a couple of hours there.Only thing to note is that they dont sell any sandwiches etc but there is a eatery in a shop in the same area.

I took my friend to visit Get to Know Animals primarily so that he could meet the Tamarin monkeys. We arrived early, as we travelled from Kent, and had a good chat with Rob who explained how the sanctuary came about and what to expect from our visit. We looked around for a while there are lots of different animals to observe, from cute and fluffy to scaly and nocturnal and then we got to meet Kim and Aggie, the super sweet Tamarins. The keeper who guided our animal experience was knowledgeable and clearly loved what she did and my friend and I learned a lot about these little monkeys.I then decided to add a tarantula experience to my day out which does not need to be prebooked and met Charlotte. Again, the keeper who looked after me was passionate about what she did and it was interesting to learn about this species of spiders. I would thoroughly recommend a visit to this nonprofit organisation. They clearly care about their animals and this is a good option for the winter months as the sanctuary is indoors. Many thanks,
