Discover the art of silversmithing in the beautiful Peak District. Spend a full day at a purpose-built workshop on a farm near Bakewell, learning traditional techniques and crafting your own bowl and spoon in the heart of the rolling Derbyshire countryside, between Bakewell and Matlock. These hands-on silversmithing day courses are open to everyone, with no previous experience required. You will begin by working with copper, learning how the metal behaves, how it softens through annealing, and how it naturally hardens as it’s shaped and formed. Guided by an experienced and friendly silversmithing team, you will be coached through each stage of the process. Alongside the practical skills, the day is filled with stories, laughter and a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. By the end of your experience, you will have created your own handcrafted bowl and spoon. These pieces are then silver plated for you and sent out after the course, ready to be treasured as a lasting reminder of your creative day in the Peak District.

    • Jeans, T-Shirt and jumper are recommended (no fleeces)
    • Suitable sturdy footwear should be worn ie Steel toe-capped boots or walking boots
    • Jewellery should not be worn, and long hair must be tied back
    • Guests are welcome to come along and watch, please make this known when making your booking

    • Under 18s must be accompanied by a responsible adult
    • Selected weekends throughout the year
    • Courses start at 09:30, finishing around 17:00
