The Gilman family has been sheep and beef farming here for generations. Passionate about British farming and sharing where our food comes from, they love welcoming visitors to take part in these unique experiences. Working dogs are at the heart of farm life. Farmer James is a multiple-time England Sheepdog Trial Champion, winner of One Man & His Dog, and has even represented Great Britain internationally. You couldn’t be in better hands. After a warm welcome, you’ll meet the stars of the show—an eager pack of Border Collies. These clever, energetic dogs will show you just what it takes to keep sheep in line. And while sheep can be mischievous escape artists, with James’s guidance and your new canine teammates, you’ll soon learn how to handle them using voice commands and whistles. Watching man and dog work together is impressive, but actually taking part is unforgettable. And with the farm’s stunning location on the edge of the Peak District, the scenery is just as memorable. Before you leave, you’ll take home a shepherd’s whistle, some Pye Ash merchandise, and the memory of a truly one-of-a-kind countryside experience.
