About the experience

Product ID: 17144

Explore the South Downs in East Sussex in an entirely new way, with this unusual and exciting Kayaking Trip down the River Cuckmere! On this leisurely jaunt between the mouth of the river Cuckmere Haven, to a small tidal river at Alfriston, both beginners and experienced kayakers can enjoy this guided trip, where you'll take in all manner of sights and wildlife to discover, from the White Horse of Litlingen to otters along the river banks. Much of the river's course runs besides the South Downs Way, although as some parts of this are only accessible by water, it means you can see some stuff you wouldn't see on foot, as well as National Trust managed countryside, riverside cottages, pubs and farmland. As part of your trip is along a tidal section of river, the tides will dictate your departure times. But you can expect to be on this round trip for a very relaxed 5 - 6 hours in all. Plus, you'll also have a free hot drink of your choice at the end of your trip, perfect to warm up and reflect on an amazing time on the water in the South Downs!
