About the Experience

Enjoy a relaxed morning or afternoon out in the beautiful Newcastle countryside with this unforgettable Hawk Walk experience, ideal for anyone who loves the outdoors and trying something a bit out of the ordinary. On arrival at the centre you will be welcomed by your instructor, meet the rest of the group and be introduced to the Harris Hawk who will be joining you for the walk. Once everyone is ready, you will set off into the surrounding woodland, strolling through scenic trails while hearing interesting stories about the local area, including historic landmarks such as the old Newburn coke ovens and the birthplace of famous engineer George Stephenson. As you walk, the hawk will soar between the trees above you before returning to land gently on your arm when called, giving you the chance to see these powerful birds up close and appreciate their calm and intelligent nature. Along the way, the instructor will share insights into falconry, the behaviour of the hawks and how to handle them confidently, making the experience informative without feeling formal. After returning to the centre, there is the option to sit down and enjoy a hearty roast dinner if pre booked, as well as time to ask any final questions and soak up the peaceful surroundings. This Hawk Walk offers a wonderfully different way to explore Newcastle and makes a thoughtful gift for anyone who enjoys fresh air, wildlife and a slower paced adventure.

  • Participants should wear weather appropriate clothing and walking shoes.

  • The maximum group size for this experience is 5 participants.

  • The experience will last approximately two and a half hours.

    The Hawk Walk runs year round on weekdays and weekends, except around major holidays. All booking are subject to availability.

  • In particularly adverse weather conditions the experience may be cancelled, in which case it will be rescheduled for another date.

  • We encourage you to bring a camera to capture the memorable moments with the hawks and the beautiful scenery.
