Meet the Ferrets in Essex for Two! Spend time with these curious little creatures at their home near Saffron Walden, on the edge of Epping Forest. ‘Forest Lodge' is a friendly miniature zoo and animal experience center, conveniently located within easy reach of London and Essex. It is home to a variety of animals—mostly adopted and rescued—including these fantastic ferrets. Ferrets are intelligent and sociable animals. They can be lively and mischievous, often seen burrowing, digging, and chewing—hence the expression “to ferret around” when someone is being nosy! During your visit to the center, a ranger will guide you to meet the resident ferrets and share interesting facts about them. While ferrets sometimes get a bad reputation for being naughty or even a bit stinky, they are actually very social and clever creatures. Remarkably, ferrets can recognize and respond to their own names, so be sure to call for your ferret and see if it looks at you or even comes over! You may be surprised to learn that ferrets are carnivores. Their ideal diet consists of small rodents and rabbits, which might seem odd as they resemble their distant cousins. Therefore, it’s important to be cautious about what you feed your pet ferret since they can only digest meat. After taking plenty of selfies with your new favorite ferret friend, you'll still have time to explore the mini zoo and visit the other animals at this Essex centre, as your Meet the Ferrets ticket includes general entry.
