About the Experience

Step into the past and try your hand at the Medieval Sport Trio, a brilliant way to discover how traditional skills were once mastered. Set within the beautiful woodlands of the New Forest, this experience lets you enjoy archery, crossbows and axe throwing in an authentic countryside setting. When you arrive, you will meet the rest of your group in the car park before hopping into an off road 4x4 that takes you out to the shooting ranges where the action begins. Your first challenge is archery, where a professional Archery GB coach will guide you through the basics and help you build confidence as you aim for targets up to 20 metres away, even testing your skills on balloon targets. Once you have found your rhythm with a bow, it is time to step things up with crossbows. Channel your inner survival expert as you take aim from 25 metres, using a magnified scope to line up the perfect shot on zombie themed targets. It is surprisingly satisfying and great fun for beginners and enthusiasts alike. The final activity is axe throwing, a hands on skill that feels every bit as rugged as it sounds. You will learn the technique using specially crafted battle axes forged by a local New Forest blacksmith, adding a proper traditional touch to the experience. After trying all three activities, you are free to spend more time practising your favourites at your own pace. Whether you want to sharpen your aim, perfect your throw or simply enjoy the atmosphere, there is plenty of opportunity to get stuck in. This experience makes a fantastic gift for anyone who enjoys the outdoors, friendly competition and trying something a little different with friends or family.

    • The minimum age for Archery is 8 years old.
    • The minimum age for Axe Throwing is 12 Years old.
    • The minimum age for Crossbow is 12 Years old.
    • Under 18's will need parental consent and to be accompanied by a participating adult.
    • If you have any mobility issues or use a wheelchair, please let us know.
    • Please wear outdoor clothing, suitable for the weather conditions on the day. All safety equipment will be provided on the day.
    • The maximum group size for this experience is 24 participants.
    • Bookings of 12 and over will have exclusive access to this experience, however groups smaller than this will take the experience alongside others.
    • Spectators are welcome.As the experience is outside well behaved dogs are also welcome.
    • You need to be in a group of at least four for this experience. If you are a group smaller than this, you will be put into a group with others. The experience will be rearranged if there aren't enough participants taking part.
    • The experience will last 2 hours, in which time you will be able to try out all three activities.
    • Minimum Age: 8 years

    • The experiences runs all year round.
    • Only in weather conditions such as lightning, gale force winds or snow will the experience be cancelled.
    • If your experience is cancelled it will need to be rescheduled with the centre.
    • Participants should be in good health and able to partake in physical activities. If you have any specific health concerns, please consult with your physician before booking.
