About the Experience

Arts and Crafts Experience Days: Unleash your creativity with this fun pottery experience for two in Herefordshire! Try your hand at the potter’s wheel and craft your very own bowl or vase.

If you’ve ever wanted to explore pottery, this beginner’s lesson in the Malvern Hills is the perfect place to start. Under the guidance of a professional instructor, you’ll discover the calming, hands-on process of throwing clay and shaping your own unique creation.

On arrival at the pottery studio in the grounds of Eastnor Castle, you’ll be welcomed by your instructor before watching a live demonstration at the potter’s wheel. Then it’s your turn! Each participant will take the wheel to shape a lump of clay into a bowl or vase, with plenty of one-to-one support in a relaxed, small-group setting. If you create more than one pot, you’ll select your favourite to take home and decorate. For a small extra fee, you can also leave your masterpiece to be dried, fired, and glazed professionally—ready for collection (or postage) once it’s emerged from the kiln.

  • Minimum Age: 14

    For an additional £20 per pot, leave your masterpieces with the activity provider to be dried, fired and glazed.

    Once your pots have emerged from the kiln, approx. one month later, they'll drop you an email to let you know they're ready for collection from the Pottery. P+P can be arranged at £5 per item.

    Apron and towel hire is an extra £5 per couple – participants are encouraged to bring their own.

  • Please wear old clothes and footwear that you’re not precious about, as they will get splattered in clay. Bring an apron and towel; alternatively, you can hire these at £5 per bundle. All tools and materials will be provided by the studio.

  • Workshops take place Thursday – Saturday at 11am and 2pm
