As soon as you arrive at Brighton City Airport in Sussex you’ll be blown away by the history here on site. This airfield dates back to the 1930s and boasts a stunning art deco style terminal building which is actually grade II listed. As you take a seat on the Robinson R22, you’ll be following in the footsteps of aviation history as you explore the Sussex coast scenery around. Helicopters are a right of passage for anyone who is passionate about flying, and if you haven’t been on one already, this is your sign. Before taking to the skies you’ll be walked through the pre flight briefing and your pilot will explain to you the principles of helicopter flying. Once your seated and airborne, your pilot will take you around some of the most picturesque parts of the South Downs National Park, as well as encourage you to have a go on the controls yourself. There’s nothing quite like flying a helicopter yourself, as you get used to the blades chopping through the air and the stunning views out of the cockpit. As well as being the perfect flying experience, this site also caters to those wishing to make a day of it with family and friends as it has excellent facilities including a visitors centre and on side viewing area and restaurant. I was given a 20 minute helicopter flight as a birthday present, and I have to say it was excellent Instructor Ed Hardcastle took off the R22 and we then followed the beach towards Brighton. I was able to take over the controls until we flew over the piers at which point Ed took back control to do a handbraketurn and we returned to the airfield for some hovering practice. That is absolutely the hardest thing to do on the planet you need to concentrate on so much simultaneously. I am sorry to admit that I failed dismally to keep the helicopter stable for more than 2 seconds, even though I had previously done 9 seconds of hovering nearly 3 years ago with Gary in GCROW. I had a fantastic time and cant wait to give it another go. Everyone at Advanced Helicopters found to be very friendly and helpful. 5 stars.

My helicopter flight in Sussex was absolutely amazing I had been up in a helicopter before but nothing compares to the thrill of actually flying it under the supervision of a highly experienced and professional pilot in Spencer who was very reassuring. Fantastic

Because of lack of information, the wrong helicopter for me was ordered, so I had a very cramped experience and although the instructor had to be very accommodating under the circumstances, I thought the time I had with him was useful and interesting. I enjoyed the flying time.

I had a 45 min flight with Alex and couldnt recommend him enough. He allowed me the controls a lot more than i thought he would and showed me things i thought would only come with much more advanced lesson.Cant praise Advance enough for looking after us and making us feel really welcome.
