Get fired up for a hands-on blacksmithing experience in the beautiful Derbyshire Peak District! Head to a countryside workshop near the charming village of Elton, where you will discover the traditional art of forging metal during this exciting half-day course. Led by experienced blacksmiths Jessica, Phil and Tim, who specialise in decorative metalwork, this experience offers a fantastic introduction to traditional blacksmithing techniques. Your experience takes place in a spacious, purpose-built workshop, complete with seven forges and plenty of anvils. With the fires roaring and hammers striking hot metal, you will get a real taste of life at the forge. After a warm welcome, safety briefing and getting kitted out in your protective equipment, it's time to roll up your sleeves and get stuck in! Under expert guidance, you'll learn how to heat, hammer, bend, shape and scroll red-hot metal using techniques passed down through generations. You will put your newfound skills to the test by crafting your very own decorative coat hooks to take home. Perfect for beginners, this half-day blacksmithing experience in the Peak District is a brilliant opportunity to try something different, learn a traditional craft and create something unique with your own hands!

Although the day was well presented and full, and although I have not done blacksmithing before the course was too basic for me. If another more advanced course was available I would certainly go again.

The experience was a Blacksmithing day in the Peak District. The event was very well organised, from booking the date and time to walking out with a hand made toasting fork. Safety was top of the priority list but there was also time for fun and some excellent food. Although the work is quite heavy, it was well within our 70 years capacity as interested novices.
