Join guided canoeing and kayaking trips along the River Wye! Paddle near Talgarth in Powys for an enjoyable morning or afternoon on the water, suitable for everyone from age five upwards. These guided experiences are led by British Canoe-qualified instructors who will teach you the essentials of paddling in a canoe or kayak. Then, you'll set off downstream on the Wye to explore the scenic Welsh landscape. If you're new to canoeing, you'll be guided through everything—from launching and landing your boat to paddling forwards and backwards—all while staying safe and aware of the river. Once you've mastered the basics, your guide will point out local wildlife, landmarks, and teach you some kayak lingo and river navigation skills. The trips take place on the edge of the Black Mountains, providing stunning scenery. Powys scenery is breathtaking, and paddlers are often amazed by the calm and beauty of the area. After exploring, there's time for fun paddle games. Expect to get wet—these activities are optional but popular, and they’re a fun way to end your day on the River Wye.

    • A guided canoeing session on the River Wye, near Brecon
    • A qualified guide will ensure you are fully equipped with buoyancy aid and paddle and safety briefing
    • Sessions begin with the instructor teaching you basic skills
    • Once basic skills are completed, they will lead you down the River Wye
    • Sessions include learning a few techniques, general river terms and navigation
    • Along the way, a few challenges will be thrown in (optional)
    • Warm comfortable athletic clothing, trainers, waterproofs, hat, jackets and sunscreen needed for warmer months
    • Not suitable for spectators as participants are moving around on the water, but you can meet them at the start/finish points
    • Minimum age 5*
    • * Children aged 5-11 must have Two Participating Adults in the same boat
    • Children aged 12-15 must have One Participating adult
    • You will form part of a group of up to 12 participants
    • Experiences last 2-3 hours available at 09:15 - 12:30 and 13:15 -16:30
    • Available daily throughout the year, subject to availability

    • If river conditions are deemed unsuitable on the day of your activity, all guided canoe trips will take place on the Brecon & Monmouthshire Canal
