Beer connoisseurs - especially those based down by the South Coast - will love this unique guided tour package, which will let you discover the many craft beers that are produced in and around the variety of historic and new generation breweries in Lewes and Brighton. Your guide for this tour is Dan, a local Lewes lad, who is both an International Beer judge and one of eight of the UK's Advanced Cicerones (which is a beer sommelier). You've got the option of one of two tour routes - the Lewes tour will start opposite the formidable red brick building of Harvey's Brewery (or 'Lewes Cathedral' as it is colloquially known in the area). You'll head across the road to your first stop, which is the John Harvey Tavern, a traditional pub serving Harvey's fine ales in a truly historic and atmospheric setting. If you opt for the Brighton tour, you'll convene outside The Brick on Preston Street, a craft beer pub that boasts a vibrant selection of real ales, keg beers, lagers, darks and sours. From either of those points, you'll head to all manner of taprooms around Lewes and Brighton, with Dan offering you many fascinating stories and anecdotes as to the origins of each brew, as well as covering the beer making process, and which hops, aromas and flavours are included to lovingly bring them together. The tours run on Saturday afternoons, so if you're local to the area, or perhaps are visiting for a holiday or weekend, this is certainly a unique tour to try out!
