Glassblowing has been practiced for over 2,000 years, and in an age of mass production, hand-crafted glass stands out as something truly special, especially when you've made it yourself. The process is utterly fascinating. It all begins with molten glass, fresh from the fiery depths of the furnace. Using a wooden block, you’ll shape the glowing material, carefully layering your chosen colors to create a one-of-a-kind design. Then comes the most magical moment, when you take a deep breath and blow a bubble into the glass using a traditional blowing iron. As the delicate form expands, your bauble comes to life. Watching this transformation is incredible, but experiencing it firsthand is something you’ll never forget. While glass baubles are often associated with Christmas, they make stunning decorations all year round. Hang yours in a window, and watch as it catches and reflects natural light in dazzling colors. This two and half hour workshop takes place at a purpose-built glassblowing studio, nestled between Aylesbury and Bicester. All equipment is provided, and you’ll be guided every step of the way by expert (and wonderfully patient) glassblowers. Once cooled, your handmade masterpiece will be carefully packaged and posted to you.

  • This voucher is for two people

    • A two and half hour blown glass bauble making workshop
    • Introduction to equipment and basic techniques
    • Tuition from a highly skilled glassmaker
    • Work with molten glass straight from the furnace
    • Shape the glass, apply colour and blow it into a bubble to make your unique piece
    • Your tutor will assist in adding the delicate glass hook to your bauble
    • Once this has cooled very, very slowly, your bauble will be posted to you
    • You will form up to a group of 8 participants, with 2 tutors
    • Spectators are not permitted on this experience for safety reasons
    • Clothing requirements: Please wear comfortable clothing (you will get hot and dirty), avoid flammable materials
    • Trousers / shorts - no skirts
    • No open-toed shoes/sandals
    • Remove jewellery
    • Tie back long hair
    • You may wish to bring other clothing to change into at the end
    • In the winter you may want to bring layers of clothing 
    • Minimum age is 18
    • A basic level of fitness is required, as you will be on your feet
    • Available on a select few dates throughout the year
    • Sessions run at 10:15 - 12:45 / 14:30 - 17:00
    • Please arrive 30 minutes prior to your class
    • Due to popularity, it is recommended that you book your experience as soon as possible after purchasing to avoid disappointment
