About the Experience

Rock Climbing Experience Days: Discover the thrill of rock climbing with this exciting three-hour introductory session set in the breathtaking landscapes of Brecon Beacons National Park. Perfect for beginners and adventure seekers, this hands-on experience teaches the fundamentals of climbing while surrounded by the stunning scenery of South Glamorgan.

Your adventure begins with a meeting at the activity centre, where you will be introduced to your expert instructor and the rest of your group before heading to the day’s climbing location. Depending on the session, you may tackle impressive limestone quarry walls or learn the ropes on a natural sandstone climbing spot.

You will start with bouldering — a low-level climbing technique that helps you build confidence and master the basics. Once you are ready, it’s time to take on vertical climbs, learning essential skills like belaying while challenging yourself on a variety of routes with different heights and difficulties.

Whether you are trying climbing for the first time or simply looking for an exciting outdoor challenge, this half-day rock climbing experience is a fantastic way to learn new skills, boost your confidence, and enjoy an unforgettable adventure in the great outdoors.

  • Minimum Age: 8 years

    This is a physical experience, so participants should be fit and healthy.

    Participants who have a fear of heights are welcome to join in - you can set your own personal goals with your instructor and practice the ground skills if you start to feel uncomfortable.

  • Safety equipment such as helmets and harnesses will be provided by the centre.

    Please dress according to the weather - you will need to wear comfortable, stretchy trousers (preferably not jeans), and sturdy shoes such as trainers.

    Please bring any snacks or drinks you may require as these are not provided by the centre.

  • The rock climbing introductory session in the Brecon Beacons is available throughout the year on both weekdays and weekends.

    Please note that bookings in May, June and July can be tricky due to a higher number of large-group bookings, so please give plenty of notice.

    Max Group Size: 11

    Spectators Allowed on Site: Yes

    This is a shared group experience - you will be taking part with a minimum of 2 other participants.

    There is no maximum group size as such, but larger groups will need to enquire about bookings with plenty of notice to ensure that enough instructors are available.

    Spectators are welcome. Please be sure to say upon booking if you are expecting to bring any along.

  • Experience Duration: 3:00

    Time Spent at Venue: 3:15

    This is a half-day climbing experience and will last around 3 hours in total.

    Start times:

    Morning: 9:15 - 12:30

    Afternoon: 13:15 - 16:30

    • Minimum Age: 10 years
    • This product is not eligible for promotional discount codes.

  • This rock climbing experience will go ahead in most weather conditions.

    However, if the instructors deem the conditions to be unsafe, you will simply be re-scheduled for an alternative date.
