Outdoor Experience Days: Discover a hidden world beneath the Welsh countryside with this thrilling half-day caving experience in Brecon Beacons National Park. Perfect for adventurous spirits, this underground expedition takes you deep below the surface to explore one of the UK’s most fascinating natural playgrounds.

Over three action-packed hours, you will navigate incredible cave systems in South Wales, guided by an experienced instructor who’ll kit you out with all the necessary safety gear and show you the ropes. The Brecon Beacons are home to an extensive network of caves, meaning routes can be tailored to suit complete beginners or those with prior experience.

You might venture into Porth Yr Ogof, an active river cave famed for its winding passages, underground chambers and exhilarating tight squeezes. Or perhaps you will explore Ogof Clogwyn, a stunning cave hidden behind a waterfall — an unforgettable setting for your first subterranean adventure. Some routes even include optional abseiling for an added adrenaline rush.

Expect narrow crawls, dramatic rock formations and awe-inspiring natural features as you uncover nature’s secret underground world. It’s an unforgettable gift experience for anyone with a true sense of adventure.

  • Minimum Age: 8 years.

    This is a very physical experience, so participants should be fit and healthy.

    Parts of the caving adventure will take place in enclosed spaces; participants with claustrophobia are usually fine with the support of the instructors. Please inform the centre upon booking if you are worried.

    If the experiences gets too much on the day, you will need to advise your instructor at the time.

  • Please dress in warm, stretchy clothing as is it likely to be rather cold, underground - fleeces and jogging bottoms are a good idea.

    You will also need to bring a spare set of clothes to change into after the experience.

    The following safety equipment will be provided by the centre upon arrival:

    • Helmets
    • Head lamps
    • Protective over-suits
    • Belts
    • Knee-pads
    • Wellies

    If you would like to bring your own wellies, these will need to be inspected by the centre before heading out into the caves.

  • This half-day caving adventure in South Wales is available throughout the year on both weekdays and weekends.

    Please note that bookings in May, June and July can be tricky due to higher numbers of large group bookings, so please give plenty of notice.

    Max Group Size: 11

    Spectators Allowed on Site: No

    Minimum group size: 4 participants

    If you are booking for 3 people or less, you will simply be added to another group booking for a shared experience.

    This is an underground experience and is not suitable forspectators.

    *All instructors are qualified with the British Cave AssociationLocal Cave Leader scheme.

  • Experience Duration: 3:00

    Time Spent at Venue: 3:15

    This half-day caving experience will last for approximately 3 hours in total.

    Morning session: 9:15 - 12:30

    Afternoon session: 13:15 - 16:30

    You will need to arrive 15 minutes prior to your start time in order to get signed in.

    • Minimum Age: 10 years
    • This product is not eligible for promotional discount codes.

  • This is an all-weather underground caving experience.

    However, if the instructors deem the environment to be unsafe due to icy conditions, you will simply be rescheduled for an alternative date.
