Immerse yourself in the world of falconry while enjoying the breathtaking scenery of Herstmonceux Castle in East Sussex. This stunning Tudor castle makes for the perfect setting for a day full of unforgettable experiences and majestic birds of prey. The castle's moat and picturesque surroundings provide a beautiful backdrop for your falconry adventure. The birds of prey that call the castle grounds their home are expertly trained by the head falconer, Gerard, who is passionate about his profession. Thanks to his expertise and care, these birds fly with grace and precision. During your visit, you'll have the chance to meet and fly a variety of birds, including Kestrels, Barn Owls, Laner Falcons, and Harris Hawks. As you walk with the Hawks through the woodlands and pastures surrounding the castle, you'll be filled with a sense of wonder and excitement that only comes from being in close proximity to these magnificent creatures. There are two options available: half-day and full-day falconry sessions. Regardless of which option you choose, you'll fly an Owl and walk with a Hawk for around two hours. The full-day experience includes more time with the birds and the opportunity to explore the gardens, have lunch at a nearby pub, or visit the tea rooms.

A Falconry Experience in the stunning grounds of Herstmonceux Castle
- Introduction to your experienced instructor and the birds
- Fly a Harris Hawks during a hawk walk through some stunning woodland and an Owl to the glove
- Experience a falcon in flight
- All equipment is provided
- Refreshments will be provided
- Entry to the gardens and grounds of the castle is included between April and November
- Your will form part of a small group of up to 4 participants
Full Day
- Allow approximately five hours for this experience
- On a full day experiences you will fly at least six birds of prey including Owls, Hawks and Falcons

- For full day sessions you may either bring your own packed lunch or food is available to purchase in the Herstmonceux Castle tearooms during the open season or the local inn in nearby Wartling

This was one of the most amazing experiences I have ever had. Beautiful setting and Gerard was fantastic. The birds were beyond incredible and I would love to go again. Thoroughly recommend the East Sussex falconry experience.
