Bird Of Prey Experience Days: Get hands-on with some of nature’s most breathtaking hunters during a full-day birds of prey experience in the Kirkcaldy countryside.

This unforgettable day gives you the rare chance to handle hawks, owls, kites and falcons while learning all about their behaviour, diets, habitats and the remarkable training that turns them into skilled aerial hunters.

Falconry has a 4,000-year history, and during your session, you will explore both its ancient traditions and the modern techniques used today. After meeting your expert instructor and receiving a safety briefing, you will be introduced to the stars of the day — the raptors themselves. Equipped with a falconry glove, you will feel the thrill of a hawk or owl swooping in with outstretched wings to land gently on your fist. If the hunting aspect isn’t for you, there’s still plenty to enjoy, from flying the resident birds to watching their breathtaking dives as they respond to their trainers’ cues. With ample time to ask questions and observe the birds in their natural outdoor surroundings, you will gain a deep appreciation for their intelligence, agility and beauty.

This immersive full-day falconry experience is ideal for wildlife lovers of all ages and makes a truly memorable gift. With knowledgeable trainers and stunning birds, it’s an inspiring way to connect with nature and learn a centuries-old art.

  • Although there is no minimum age restriction as such, young children must have a good level of fitness, a keen interest in birds of prey, and have enough strength to be able to hold the weight of the birds.

    Under 14s must be accompanied by a parent/guardian (participating or non-participating).

    Guests with mobility issues can be catered for, but will need to take part in tailored experiences (rather than group sessions) so advance notice is required.

  • This is an outdoor experience, so you will need to dress according to the weather.

    You will be on your feet for the duration of the day, so please ensure you are wearing comfortable, sturdy shoes such as boots.

    The centre does not provide waterproofs, so if the weather is less than perfect, please come prepared.

  • This full-day bird of prey experience in Fife can be booked 7 days a week, throughout the year.

    However, due to weather conditions and daylight hours, participants are advised to book between March and October in order to avoid the disappointment of cancellation.

    This is a popular experience and usually runs with small group numbers. Participants are advised to give around 6 weeks' notice for bookings, where possible.

    With a high demand, the Full Day Falconry Experience requires at least 6 weeks' notice. More if you're looking to book for a weekend.
