Join the Great Central Railway for a wonderful Friday night experience aboard the Master Cutler steam train. This first-class dining car excursion is the perfect way to end your week. The Master Cutler train was named after Sheffield's steel and was first launched in 1947, running a return journey from Sheffield to Marylebone via the East Midlands on the Great Central Line. The train has undergone various route and schedule changes since then, but the Master Cutler service can still be caught by rail commuters on the East Midlands Mainline. One of the First Class dining coaches restored by the Great Central Railway trust was actually used on Master Cutler journeys back in the 1950s, making the return of this famous service for a Friday evening steam train dinner departure very special. The journey will begin at the GCR Loughborough station, where staff will guide you to your seat in the First Class dining car. Departure is scheduled for 7:30 pm, with your return to Loughborough set for around 10:00 pm. As you travel along the historic route through the Leicestershire countryside, a four-course meal will be served at your table. The menu features delicious mains such as braised lamb, honey and garlic roast chicken breast, or salmon and pesto, with vegetarian options also available. After dessert, your meal will conclude with a cheeseboard, coffee, and after-dinner mints.

- It is possible for friends and family to buy a platform ticket only so they can wave you off and there are things to do at the station, but the most convivial thing to do is buy vouchers so you can make a family or group day of it and all eat together!
- Loughborough Central is where you will find a museum, station buffet and locomotive shed
- You are welcome to visit the area outside the shed where most locomotives can be viewed, but access into the shed is restricted for security reasons
