About the experience

Product ID: 17110

The adrenaline rush of a tandem skydive is something we believe everyone should get to try, including those with a physical disability or visual impairment. And this incredible new Accessible Tandem Skydive experience for two in County Durham will let you and an able bodied friend, family member or loved one do just that! We have partnered with a supplier who are a leading organisation in providing unique, once-in-a-lifetime experiences such as skydiving that are accessible for all. How they've achieved this is with a 'rainbow suit', a revolutionary, one of its kind piece of equipment that makes it so the instructor can raise your legs on landing, allowing you to feel the full sensation of skydiving. You'll board the plane via a scissor lift, and take off into the skies, ascending to heights of around 13,500 ft, with anticipation building as you prepare to take the leap of a lifetime! You'll freefall at speeds of 125mph, feeling the pull of your parachute open as you begin your gradual descent back down to earth. Many people bring friends and family along to spectate and cheer your arrival back on the ground after achieving an amazing accomplishment. Plus, you'll get to take some special memories of this unforgettable experience home with you to share with loved ones, in the form of a photo and video package from a freefall photographer and a commemorative T-Shirt. A tandem skydive is a test of courage and self-belief, but by doing this you'll be able to show that you're capable of whatever you put your mind to.

Itinerary

This package is for one disabled person tandem skydiving with video and one able bodied tandem skydiver without video.

Prior to the day of your jump, the disabled participant will need to have completed the following:

  • Obtain a BSB Form 115B signed by your doctor (please read more information on this below under the 'General' section)
  • Complete a medical declaration with the supplier on their website
  • Have a video call with your lead instructor for the skydive

Once everything is agreed, a date for your jump will be arranged (although this will be weather dependent), with a £100 non-refundable fee paid to the jump site.

The lead instructor will also give you a call the day prior to your jump to confirm weather conditions.

On the day of your jump, the itinerary will be as follows:

  • Welcome and sign on
  • Pre flight preparation and kitting up
  • Take off to heights of 13,500 ft in the air
  • Jump from the plane
  • Post jump feedback with the instructor
  • Collection of your photo and video package and commemorative jump T-Shirt (for disabled participant)

  • Please allow to be at the venue for around 4 - 6 hours.

  • You can purchase an open Gift Voucher valid for 10 months, or 14 months for an additional fee at checkout.

    • This tandem skydive experience is accessible to most people, including those with disabilities and visual impairments.
    • This experience utilises a unique 'rainbow suit', which is attached to the instructor, and will enable them to raise your legs on landing so you can feel the sensation of skydiving as you descend.
    • Helpers for the supplier are on the plane and to check all straps before the jump. A helper is non-negotiable, for assistance and safety.
    • As soon as a jump date is agreed on, the jump site will discuss the weather conditions and have a chat with you at least 24 hours before to see if it is possible to skydive on the proposed date.
    • Only when the weather is suitable, usually in winds of 10knts + can jumps take place. Whilst at the venue, you may see others jump, but the team must ensure all conditions are in place to make the skydive as risk free as possible.
    • You must bring any helpers or carers needed to assist you on the ground. The jump site has facilities available including Radar key toilets and showers.
    • There is a scissor lift to help access the plane.
    • The helpers should be able to make sure that after the jump you have not suffered any unnoticed injuries and inform the team on the jump site if there are any.
  • The weight limit for tandem skydiving (fully clothed) is at 94kg for women, and 98kg for men.

Your height and weight should be in proportion.

It is strongly advised that a carer, friend or family member attends this experience. This is to ensure that you have someone to help you after your incredible experience.

This experience is suitable for people over 16 years. Those aged 40 and over will require a BPA Medical form signed by a doctor, and under 18s will require the signature of a parent or guardian.

If you suffer from any of the following medical conditions, you must obtain a Doctor’s signature on a BPA Medical Form prior to jumping: Epilepsy, fits, severe head injury, recurrent blackouts or giddiness, disease of the brain or nervous system, high blood pressure, heart or lung disease, dislocated shoulder, recurrent weakness or dislocation of any limb, diabetes, mental illness, drug or alcohol addiction.

If you have a disability, it may be necessary to get a Doctor to sign the BPA Medical form - you can contact the supplier for further information on this.

This activity is not suitable for pregnant women.

Friends and family are welcome along to come and watch you on the day of your jump.

Jumpsuit, helmet, goggles and all the other kit you need to complete the jump will be provided to you on the day. Please wear comfortable, loose fitting clothes and flat-soled shoes with no hooks – trainers are ideal.

    • Minimum Age: 16 years
    • Maximum Weight: 98.43 kg
  • This experience can only take place if the right weather conditions are present for it to happen safely. Cloudy weather or high winds will result in the skydive being postponed.

You will have received a call from the lead instructor the day before confirming weather conditions. However, skydiving is a weather dependent activity, and there is always the chance that skydivers will have to wait a while, or even return on an alternative date.

Once a date is confirmed, all skydives are non refundable, but there is no charge or penalty to reschedule due to weather. It is requested that skydivers are prepared to turn up and wait for suitable conditions, as forecasts are not always accurate.

  • The Tandem Skydiving Experience is available on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays all year round.
