About the experience

Product ID: 17044

If you, or a loved one you know who has a physical disability or visual impairment and has always dreamt of learning to fly, this brand new accessible flying lesson will help make those dreams come true! On this exciting 60 minute lesson, available at one of two UK air bases - Rochester Airport in Kent and Little Gransden Airfield in Cambridgeshire - you've got the opportunity to learn to fly an Ikarus C42 light aircraft. We are working closely with our supplier, who are a leading disability organisation, who specialise in making flying lessons accessible to anyone with any disability. Fully approved by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), the instructors on these lessons have been hand-picked for their experience with handling and accommodating for the demands that having a disability can bring. There is very little that beats the rewarding feeling of taking the controls of an aeroplane for yourself, and that is what the aim will be for the majority of cases on this experience. Your lesson is divided into three parts; the first will be a pre-flight briefing, conducted at a gentle pace, to help you get accustomed to what to expect on the flight and what exercise you'll be completing. Then the 60 minute lesson commences, where you'll cover the important checks that need to be completed, and also gain an understanding of what your responsibilities are as the pilot, all the while, gradually building your confidence. Your lesson will conclude with a debriefing session from the instructor. In all, it promises to be a memorable and exciting day that shows there's no limit on adventure - and we'd recommend arriving early so you can meet others who are in attendance and prepare for your lesson.
