About the experience

Product ID: 14411

Jump aboard this unique helicopter flying experience from Welshpool as you not only get a half an hour lesson, but an impressive 10 minute demonstration of what kind of manoeuvres the helicopter can do from the pilot. If you’re looking to clock up your hours towards your private liscence, this handy flight in the Heli will count. Not only will you be able to soak up the stunning Welsh scenery over Powys & the Severn Valley but build up your flight time alongside an experienced instructor on hand to offer you handy tips and tricks. But if you’ve never flown before, that’s not a problem as each lesson is tailored to your experience and a helicopter is a great aircraft to start with. In this session you’ll learn how to fly in a straight line, learn how to use the rotors to turn and even master the art of hovering which is far more difficult than it sounds. After you’ve completed your lesson, it will be over to the pilot to show you the rest of what this aircraft can do. You’ll walk away being surprised at just how much agility these choppers have and the powerful manoeuvres they can achieve in the skies. This combination is not only perfect for experienced flyers but newbies too, as you receive expert tuition and insight into some of the more advanced techniques helicopters are capable of.

Dan, the flying instructor, was excellent and very patient. Having flown many times in helicopters as a passenger it was a great experience actually flying one for real. A 1st class experience and thoroughly to be recommended.

This was my 2nd experience of flying a helicopter 1st being 20 years ago and once again I thoroughly enjoyed it.The instructor had hurt his back which meant I got to help wheel the craft out of the hanger before he took it to get some fuel. OK, the prep may not have been great but, considering the problems he was having walking, Im not going to hold that against him.Thankfully, once he managed to get into his seat, he was fine and the lesson went well. I got to practice some hovering skills too which didnt happen last time. So I found out that Im wired up to use my feet the opposite way around from the controls .... so that was good funOverall, a really good experience. Its always a good sign when it just didnt seem long enough

Apart from the initial issue of trying to book an actual time with Whizzard Helicopters whereby it took quite a few emails to organise a date. The actual experience was unforgettable. Everyone was really nice, our pilot was really informative my partner though he was fit, so a bonus for her, helpful and nothing beats the adrenaline of flying a helicopter whilst listening to the conversation between the pilot and air traffic control. I will say that hovering was the hardest part but the most fun.
