Experience open or closed-cockpit gyrocopter flights over Manchester! Departing from City Airport, located near the Trafford Centre, you'll enjoy breathtaking aerial views of landmarks across Manchester and Salford. It's important to note that City Airport is not the same as Manchester International Airport, which is situated to the south of the city. Instead, City Airport is located to the west of Salford and was formerly known as Barton Aerodrome. The airport itself is a tourist attraction, boasting a variety of aircraft to observe, numerous family-friendly events throughout the year, and a charming café called The Departure Lounge, as well as the Sopwith Bar and Grill. The enclosed Magni M24 Orion gyro is an attractive side-by-side configuration with dual control, allowing you to see everything your pilot is doing. If you're new to piloting a gyrocopter, the 30-minute experience is a perfect introduction. You'll have the opportunity to see the city of Manchester and its recognisable landmarks from the sky.

    • Lessons are conducted by a CAA-approved flying instructor
    • Opportunity to take the controls and fly the gyrocopter at the discretion of your instructor
    • Personalised flight certificate
    • The flight experience will count towards your private pilot license if you wish to continue any training
    30 Minute Experience:
    • Flight time of around 20 minutes (from engine start to engine stop)
    • Participants should wear comfortable outdoor clothing and closed-toe footwear
    • Please be advised that mobile phones, cameras, GoPro’s and any other video recording equipment with or without mounts / brackets / body harnesses are not permitted on board any of our aircraft as they can put the safety and wellbeing of both, pilot and passenger at risk and compromise the performance of the aircraft
    • Upon completion of the experience, you will receive a personalised Flight Certificate and have the opportunity to purchase your framed photograph
    • Spectators are welcome
    • Minimum age 14
    • Under 18s must be accompanied on the airfield by an adult
    • Weight restrictions: maximum 16.5 stone (105kgs)
    • Height restrictions: maximum 6ft 4ins (1.93m)
    • Gyrocopter flights take place between April and October
    • Available dates are determined by the operator
    • Flights are subject to availability and operating limits, including weather, airfield conditions and aircraft availability

An amazing experience. After a pre flight briefing, from Dave, the pilot, who fully explained the workings of the gyro copter, I was kitted out with flight suit and helmet, before taking to the skies. Once in the air I was invited to take control of the stick, what a buzzI want to do it again
