Flying lessons near Devises and Calne are available at Yatesbury Airstrip. You can enjoy a 30-minute flight in a modern light sports aircraft, which will give you a first taste of flying. The trial lessons are conducted using an Ikarus C42 closed-cockpit aeroplane, which is a latest-generation fixed-wing microlight. The Ikarus has the same performance as a typical Cessna training aircraft but with much lower running costs. You'd be surprised how far you can fly on just one tank of fuel! During this 30 min flight, you can easily cover around 40 miles when cruising at around 70 knots at between 1500 and 2000ft. The Ikarus is an impressive machine, and the instructors at Yatesbury love flying this plane in lessons. It's modern, designed, easy to fly, yet full of character - right down to the gull-wing doors! Before the flight, you will receive a pre-flight briefing to ensure that you are well-prepared and feel comfortable.
