Gliding is one of the most graceful ways to take flight, as you'll discover when you book onto this breathtaking gliding experience, taking you up to 2000ft in the air. Sandhill Farm Airfield sits on the border where Oxfordshire meets Wiltshire, and is situated close to Swindon. The gliding club is a part of the British Gliding Association, adhering to all of their official guidelines in terms of flying and fleet maintenance, but it still has a friendly and welcoming atmosphere, with around 40 regular members. In the small on-site hangar, you'll find the Piper Pawnee tug, the plane which will tow you into the air in one of two Schleicher ASK13 tandem trainer gliders. Your lesson will be conducted with a fully qualified gliding instructor, out on the club's wide grass runway which will give you and the tow plane lots of room to manoeuvre and master the basic gliding skills. And also, as you'll discover, from speaking to other members of the club, you'll get to understand more about ground duties like logging and signalling. So if you fancy flying gracefully at 2000ft, this is the experience for you!

I thoroughly enjoyed my gliding experience and I had great weather which was an added bonus. The people at The Vale of the Whitehorse Gliding Club were extremely friendly and informative. My gliding lesson was fanastic and my instructer provided me with the opportunity to take the controls which amazing. Many thanks to all at the club for hosting a wonderful afternoon. I hope to return sometime in the future.

It was a fabulous experience , all the staff , pilot, ground staff etc were very friendly. Took my two little grandchildren ,age 5 7 . Their day was made when the pilot of the aircraft towing the glider allowed them to sit in the seat when it was stationary , a memory theyll remember forever ,like me ,and my memory of the day .Thank you

A really fabulous gliding experience provided by a knowledgeable passionate team who made me feel welcome safe from start to finish. Everything was well organised geared to the individual. No big crowds, no upselling, just excellent personal attention. My instructor Milan was patient informative obviously loves every minute in the sky The running of the club clearly involves a huge team effort provided by committed volunteers, young old. Would highly recommend.

The weather was very warm but I did have too wait over an hour pass my slot. The foam you sit on in the glider parachute looked quite old.

Wow what a fantastic experience, would highly recommend. Had to rebook a few times but obviously its a weather dependent experience. I would definitely do this again. My pilot Milan explained the process and asked if I wanted to fly myself.
