If you’re a London dweller who is keen to learn how to fly, why not try one of our lessons departing from Elstree Aerodrome, the closest flight school to London. Located just 10 minutes from North London and just off the M25 it’s one of the more convenient airfields to locate. Full of experienced instructors who are ex military, commercial airline pilots or even examiners, it’s safe to say you will be in the best hands to learn how to fly. Although you will have the opportunity to get to grips with all the basic controls, there’s no need to worry as all our planes are dual controlled and there will be no prospects of hot seating in the air above the city skyline. Not only will you be gaining so much knowledge from this experience, but have a unique opportunity to view the outer London skyline from the air. Rest assured, in this flight although you are close to London you’re far enough away that you won’t get held up in air traffic congestion. So, why not strap yourself in for the experience of a lifetime as you learn how to pilot the skies as you drink in the sights of the capital from the air.

Overview

    • Preflight briefing with your pilot
    • Your flight will last for 30 minutes depending on the voucher chosen
    • Opportunity to take the controls for part of the flight
    • Introductory lessons will be in a 2 seater Cessna 152 
    • Flight times are quoted 'chock to chock', ie. from when the plane starts to taxi, to when it switches off at the end of the lesson
    • A certificate upon completion
    • Flights are available on weekdays and weekends throughout the year
    • All dates and flight times are subject to availability and weather conditions
    • Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult on the airfield
    • Two forms of identity including photographic ID will be required on the day
    • Spectators are welcome to attend and watch participants in flight with plenty of great photo opportunities

On arrival we were greated by a nice lady she made us all fill very welcome. She then went through what was going to happen on my flight.on meeting the pilot he then went over the controls of the plan.he then took the plan to the runway a told me that I was to take the plan off and was left in control of the plan for the full hour of my lesson.i had done a helicopter lesson and this was far better I had an amazing hour Kind regards Peter lake

Fantastic experience and amazingly friendly staff. Very friendly staff and the instructor was very reassuring, supportive and funny. My boyfriend loved taking control of the flight and I thoroughly enjoyed taking pictures of the amazing views from the back seat. Highly recommended.

I was bought a flying lesson by my wife for my birthday. It was a very enjoyable experience, booking was easy and intotheblue were excellent when I called to make an amendment when I decided to take my dad as well. The provider was very friendly, efficient and made the experience very relaxing and fun. I would recommend intotheblue and the provider Flight Training London to family and friends.

Fully enjoyed the experience, the customer service was great at every single contact, before on and after the day. Only downside was the flight was late, but that didnt matter as we enjoyed watching the planes taking off and landing.

This is a difficult review as the booking was flawless and they were very reasonable about my diary changes. The instructor was great and put me at complete ease. The take off was fine and good fun, but the only problem is that I did not enjoy the rest of the experience at all. The cockpit is hot and cramped, but I guess that is light aircraft flying. If you dont mind that sort of thing then you will love it and I highly recommend the team at Elstree. If you turn as green as I did then its not really the experience for you or loved one. Overall Im really glad I did it as how do you know if its for you, until you have had a go

Very easy to make the booking with Elstree Aerodrome. Everything worked perfectly on the day for my grandsons flying experience. He had a terrific time and hasnt stopped talking about it since, and the rest of the family enjoyed an afternoon out at Elstree and the friendly cafe.The flying instructor was excellent reassuring, engaging and friendly.
