Ultimate Dambusters Microlight Experience
About the experience
Experience the flight path of RAF Dambusters as you fly over the Derwent River in a microlight aircraft. If you’re a history fan, you’ll be familiar with the efforts of this particular RAF squadron who practiced over this area ahead of bombing three dams in Germany in 1943. Now is your chance to relive that and get as close as you can to the drills that dominated these pilots' lives during the build up to Operation Chastise. Not only will you gain a sense of history from this experience, but take in incredible views over the heart of Derbyshire and its glorious undulating green hills. Like every flight, this one also includes a safety briefing before take off and the pilot will also offer you the opportunity to help with the navigation which is especially appealing if you’re looking to learn how to fly. Along the way, your pilot will point out all the key areas of interest aside from the Dams, it’s safe to say you’ll walk away from this experience with a new appreciation for this area and the efforts the RAF pilots went through during World War 2.
