You can now access the stones that are normally out of bounds to the public and enjoy a fully guided tour of the actual Stonehenge stones. On this day trip, you'll discover the secrets of this mystical and world-famous site, led by a Stonehenge expert. You'll learn about the theories of how the circle of stones was built, what it may have been used for and why it is so significant today. But this isn't all! Our tour includes stops at other World Heritage Sites, including the lovely village of Avebury, which boasts the largest collection of megalithic stone circles in the world. You'll also visit the West Kennet Long Barrow, an ancient tomb that dates back to 3600BC and predates Stonehenge by 400 years. If you book the early morning/sunrise tour during the winter season, you'll visit the historical small city of Salisbury, where you'll have the chance to marvel at the tallest church spire in Britain and view an original copy of the Magna Carta. Our expert hosts will guide you through each of these amazing sites, and you'll even have free time to explore the village of Avebury and visit its famous Red Lion pub, which is reputed to be haunted! But the highlight of the day is undoubtedly the Stonehenge inner circle tour. You'll get special access to the restricted area of the stones that's normally closed to visitors.
