About the experience
The Owl Encounter in Derbyshire is a fantastic opportunity for all ages to get up close and personal with beautiful owls. Located within the Risley Garden Centre estate, surrounded by stunning East Midlands countryside, this exclusive experience provides a glimpse behind the scenes of the aviaries which are not ordinarily open to the public. You'll have the chance to not only meet but also fly several owls over the Derbyshire countryside, which is a truly thrilling experience. The owls at this centre are looked after by experienced falconer Ben and his wife Lisa, who will be more than happy to introduce you to their feathered friends. You'll get to meet and learn about the lifestyles of various owls, including Archie, the Barn Owl, with his stunning mottled brown feathers and Smirnoff, the Snowy Owl, who is everyone's favourite. Don't forget to bring your camera along, as there will be plenty of opportunities to take some great photos with these photogenic birds. The Owl Encounter lasts for approximately two hours, providing you with ample time to get hands-on experience and have an owl fly and land on your gloved hand.
