About the experience

This One Day Blacksmith course for two will give you both a chance to flex your metalworking skills. Hosted by award winning blacksmith Michael Hart from his forge in the heart of the Kent countryside, near the village of Horsmonden. Michael’s workshop here is fully kitted out, and he specialises in using a combination of traditional and modern techniques to create classic and modern pieces - everything from the iron gates outside the Houses of Parliament to contemporary barn conversions. But as well as his design and commission work, he also teaches blacksmithing courses on a regular basis, which are run in small groups of four to ensure you both get the most out of the day. Teaching is very practical and so you’ll both need to be physically fit to keep up with the rigorous work. You’ll also be supplied with a set of blacksmithing tools, including the forge, anvil, vice and hand tools. And once you get started with crafting the molten metal, you’ll be amazed at what you create. You’ll create three pieces in total throughout the course; a key fob, a hook and a fire poker. After you’ve come up with a design together with Michael, you’ll have his expertise on hand and plenty of demonstrations and assistance to help you get the hang of things. This great crafting day out for two will see you take away a new set of skills and also three beautiful pieces to take home with you as a lasting memento.
