About the experience

Take flight in one of the most graceful flying experiences around, with a motor gliding lesson in Devon. You’ll be getting up in the air above Dunkeswell Airfield, a delightful airbase that’s just north of the market town of Honiton, located on the Blackdown Hills that sits some 839 ft above sea level - which makes it the highest licensed airfield in the UK! So for this reason, it is well renowned amongst the flying community for its superb rising currents that are optimum conditions for flying. This taster lesson is approximately 30 minutes long, so it’s the perfect introductory lesson for those who are keen to give motorised gliding a go. From the air, you’ll get to see the beautiful countryside that Devonshire has to offer, as you take off under your own power, climb to the height you want to fly from, and then stop the engine when you’re ready to glide and experience the tranquillity of powerless flight. The motor gliders used on this experience are Scheibe Rotax Falke motorgliders, which offer fantastic in-flight visibility thanks to the domed cockpit glass. They also offer side-by-side configuration and dual controls, so your pilot instructor will be beside you throughout the duration of your flight, so if you feel comfortable to do so, you can have a go at piloting the motorglider yourself!
