Watch in awe as these majestic birds of prey soar through the clear blue sky while you take a leisurely stroll in the Halifax countryside. You'll be able to observe these raptors in their natural habitat, an experience you'll never forget. Meet Kevin and Jo Ryan, an adventurous couple who left their city life behind to become dedicated keepers of an impressive collection of raptors. With their passion for nurturing the working partnership between bird and handler, you'll be in great hands throughout your Hawk Walk experience. Get up close and personal with the resident birds of prey, each with their distinct personality traits that become apparent as you learn to handle them. You'll have the chance to handle Ruby the Ruppells Griffon Vulture with her impressive 8ft wingspan, who loves to watch everything from her favourite post. You'll also meet Boo, the adorable Barn Owl with her trademark surprised look, and Meg, the Bengal Eagle Owl, who loves to bask in the Yorkshire sunshine. Meet the Harris Hawks, Jack and Vera, with their fantastic names, and choose your partner for your walk. With group sizes kept small (usually up to four guests), you'll have plenty of choices to work with your favourite bird. Whether you encourage Phoenix the Ferruginous Hawk to swoop over the rolling hills or watch as Popeye the Peregrine x Saker Falcon dives in at great speed, your Hawk Walk is the perfect ending to your West Yorkshire experience. You'll leave with unforgettable memories of the beauty and majesty of these incredible birds, making it an experience that you'll cherish for years to come.

- Spend time in the countryside with raptors

- A welcome introduction and safety briefing
- Meet the birds and learn a brief history of falconry
- Have a go with falconry equipment, attaching jesses and doing the falconers knot
- A Hawk walk with your choice of Falcon, Hawk or Owl
- The Hawk walk lasts around 30 minutes
- A short refreshment break
- An opportunity to handle the Hawk and experience first-hand all that is involved in the flying of the Hawk
- Photos with your choice of bird
- During the experience you will fly a minimum of 4 birds of prey
- You may be part of a group of up to 4 people
- Allow around 3.5-4 hours on site
Information
- Minimum age 10
- Under 18s must be accompanied by a participating adult
- Weekday and Weekend dates throughout the year
- Dates are subject to availability and weather conditions
- Sessions generally start at 11:00 finishing around 13:30-14:00
Minimum Age: 10 years
- Most of the walking is done on firm ground, but there will be walking in a field
- Sensible outdoor clothing is required
- Spectators are welcome for a cost of £10.00 per person, payable upon booking
