About the experience

If you're interested in dinghy sailing, there's a lot to learn before you can go out on your own. That's where this day course in Dorset comes in. It's an excellent introduction to sailing small dinghies, with plenty of hands-on experience. The training centre in Poole offers hundreds of courses every year and is an excellent choice for beginners. That's why we've chosen to offer the "Have A Go" sailing day. Located in the middle of one of the UK's most beautiful boating areas, you'll be sailing in Europe's largest natural harbour. Thanks to the natural layout of the land, these waters are some of the country's safest for sailing and perfect for learning how to sail a dinghy. The centre has a fleet of Wayfarer, Pico and Laser dinghies, which are popular for both training and racing. All instructors are fully qualified and will spend time with you throughout your course, so you can learn and progress in your sailing. After mastering launching techniques, the next challenge is to sail your dinghy in a straight line. This can be quite a challenge for novices, with factors like wind direction, tides, currents, and other boats out on the water. You'll be given some excellent sailing tips, such as keeping your focus on a fixed point in the direction you want to go, like a rock on the beach.
