Looking for an exhilarating gliding experience in Colchester? Look no further than the Wormingford Gliding Club, situated in Wormingford Airfield in Essex and Suffolk. This club provides excellent glider instruction with a modern fleet of well-maintained aircraft, all launched by winch. The Wormingford Gliding Club is located in the heart of the Colchester/Braintree/Sudbury triangle and boasts up to 35 privately owned gliders and eight club-owned gliders. The facility is warm and welcoming, and the amenities are of the highest quality and well-maintained. The club offers a variety of gliding sessions for everyone. The Gliding Experience, which includes one winch launch, is the introductory session. If you want more time in the air, you can try our Trial Lesson, which provides you with one or two flights. And if you're a budding glider pilot, our Mini-Course is perfect for you, featuring up to one hour of flight time spread over several flights in just one day. Not only will you learn the technical aspects of gliding, but you will also get to see the breathtaking area around Colchester from the air, including the stunning Dedham Vale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the rolling Suffolk arable countryside that the area is known for.

- Spectators are welcome to come along and watch
- Minimum age 14
- Under 18s must be accompanied and supervised at all times by a responsible adult when on the airfield
- Height restrictions: minimum 5ft, maximum 6ft 6ins
- Weight restrictions: minimum 4 stone 4lbs (27kg), maximum 16 stone 4lbs (103kg)
Minimum Age: 14 years
Minimum Height: 152.40 cm
Maximum Height: 198.12 cm
Maximum Weight: 103.00 kg
- Sun glasses are advised as it can be very bright under the canopy
- Suitable clothing to allow climbing in and out of the cockpit should be worn along with practical footwear such as trainers
- Layers are recommended as it can be cold on the airfield
- The club is open for voucher flights from the beginning of April to the end of October
- Flying days are Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays along with one Monday per month
- Dates and times are subject to availability
- Pre-booking is essential and the more notice you are able to give, the more likely you are to be able to secure the date of your choice
- You will need to take your voucher with you on the day. Once booked you are subject to the terms and conditions of the operator, including cancellation
- Flying is weather dependant and participants should telephone the club before setting off on the day
