About the experience
Experience the thrill of falconry in the breathtaking Northumberland National Park! This family-run, award-winning falconry centre offers half-day, full-day, and owl encounter sessions to choose from. Located in the tranquil countryside near Wark, this centre is home to a diverse range of birds of prey, many of which are orphans, strays, injured or bred through their successful breeding program. You will meet passionate falconers who are dedicated to their craft and share a close bond with their birds. Witnessing this relationship up close is a once-in-a-lifetime experience! During your session, you'll learn the basic skills of a falconer, from handling and weighing the birds to understanding the various pieces of equipment. The experienced Northumberland team will teach you how to tie the quick-release hitch knot, so you're ready to take the birds flying. Feel the power of these magnificent raptors as they soar through the dramatic Northumberland skies before returning to your hand. Wrap up your experience with a relaxing hawk walk, where you can take one of the centre's hawks for a stroll in the nearby woods and fields. Let them fly free through the trees and experience the thrill of falconry in the heart of Northumberland.

Falconry Experiences
- Full days run from 10:00 until 16:00
- Learn how to pick up, handle and weigh various birds
- Learn about the equipment and tying the falconers knot
- Fly a hawk in the countryside
- Maximum instructor/participant ratio will be 2:1
- Tea and coffee is provided
- Please note that lunch is not included in this experience
