About the experience

This is a tasting and cookery day that’s truly wild, as you head out on a Foraging Adventure in the dense and secluded woodlands of Appleton in Oxfordshire to discover just what’s out there when you go back to basics with some foraging in the great outdoors. Rest assured you’ll be under the safest and most experienced hands there are, with award winning instructors who are passionate about keeping the traditions of teaching survival techniques alive - they’ve even featured on Bear Grylls’ hit TV show Born Survivor! You’ll get to uncover the secrets of the multitude of edible and medicinal native British woodland flora, how to harvest responsibly and also how to use them. This is a truly organic experience, with a strong focus on conservation and protection, and on trees and their different bounty of fruits and what they have to offer. The course is always tailored to the climate in the Oxfordshire area at the time you attend, so you’ll be gathering in a harvest that’s abundant for that time of year. As well as a multitude of tasting opportunities and how to cook outdoors throughout the day, the day itself will climax with a meal preparation around a campfire, based on the game or plants and fruits you have harvested. And as the ingredients will vary depending on the time of year, the excitement comes from waiting to see what you bring to the table! It’s an experience that’s ideal to awaken the hunter-gatherer in you or the forager fan in your life.
