About the experience

Experience the thrill of falconry at the stunning Herstmonceux Castle in East Sussex! This Tudor castle is the perfect backdrop for a day filled with majestic birds of prey and unforgettable experiences. The castle, complete with a moat, provides a picturesque setting for your falconry adventure. The birds of prey residing in the castle grounds are impeccably trained by the passionate head falconer, Gerard. With his expertise and care, these birds have learned to fly with grace and precision. You'll have the chance to meet and fly a variety of birds including Kestrels, Barn Owls, Laner Falcons, and Harris Hawks. As you walk with the Hawks through the woodlands and pastures around the castle, you'll feel a sense of wonder and excitement that only comes from being in close proximity to these magnificent creatures. We offer both half-day and full-day falconry sessions. Regardless of which option you choose, you'll be able to fly an Owl and walk with a Hawk for approximately two hours. The full-day experience also includes more time with the birds and the opportunity to explore the gardens, have lunch at a nearby pub, or visit the tea rooms.
