About the experience
Looking for a fun and exciting way to explore the River Leam at Leamington Spa? Look no further than kayaking in Warwickshire! We offer you a choice of a two-hour taster session or a full day paddle that's perfect for both beginners and those with some kayaking experience. And the best part? All the gear you need is included, so you can just show up and start paddling. Our kayaking centere in Leamington Spa is British Canoe Association Quality Marked, and our fully qualified and passionate British Canoeing (BC) instructors are always on board and ready to take you on a paddling adventure. They'll chat with you before the session to discuss your experience and tailor the session to ensure everyone has a great time. On the taster sessions, you'll start with a paddle out on the boating lake, where you can quickly build up confidence in your kayak on calm and shallow waters. From there, you'll launch into the River Leam itself, which winds around Leamington Spa's pretty town center, meandering through the Victorian Gardens and the Nature Reserve. If you're up for a full day of kayaking, you'll explore even further along the River Leam, setting off from St. Nicolas Park and passing by Warwick Castle. You'll receive all the training and tuition you need, with the added thrill of being able to head off on a longer trip. And if you're feeling adventurous, you can even have a go at 'running a weir' to add an extra little thrill to your day of kayaking! At the end of the full day kayaking day, you can ask to undergo the British Canoe assessment for the 'Paddle Discover Award'. If you pass, you'll receive a certificate recognizing your basic kayaking skills as a reward for all your paddle practice. Our kayaking sessions in Warwickshire run throughout the main summer season, from April to October, on weekends. And the best part? Information
- Spectators are welcome although due to the nature of this activity, viewing is limited
- Minimum age 14
- You must be reasonably fit and confident in the water
- It is not necessary to be able to swim, as buoyancy aids are worn at all times
- You'll be asked to complete a medical declaration form before taking part. Under 18s must have this signed by a parent, guardian or responsible adult
Minimum Age: 14 years
- You should wear basic sports clothing which you don't mind getting damp or wet such as shorts/old tracksuit, t-shirt and old trainers, sandals or wet shoes
- A complete change of clothes is necessary
- Discover Kayaking day operate on weekends from April to October
- Activities may be cancelled or postponed in extreme weather conditions
- Sessions are not cancelled because of rain, as paddling in the rain is fun!
