About the experience
The historic University City of Cambridge is synonymous with many things - whether that's picturesque colleges, quaint independent shops or the must visit Fitzwilliam Museum. But it's also known for it's water ways and the beautiful River Cam that flows through the heart of the city. If you've ever watched the many rowers practicing along this river and wondered what it's like to have a go, you're in the place as we're offering a unique Cambridge Rowing Taster Session! Here, you will receive an introduction to the club and its boats, take a session on the clubs rowing machines mastering the technique, and learn how to keep the boat stable before take off! Once you are prepped and ready to go, you'll be able to enjoy a full hour of rowing along the River Cam - starting opposite the Midsummer Common. As the link between Cambridge and rowing is so strong, you'll soon be becoming familiar with this iconic sport and get to appreciate the city from the river. Although it's made to look easy by the experts, there's a lot to master. But if you're up for the challenge of learning how to master this iconic sport, look no further!

- Enjoy a rowing experience at the City of Cambridge Rowing Club
- Introduction to the club and boats
- Half an hour session on the clubs rowing machines (ergs), working on timing and technique
- Practice the techniques in an 'eight boat' by the bank
- Learn how to sit the boat (keep it stable) and how to follow the cox's calls
- Collect your blades from the boathouse and head out to the river
- Enjoy a full hour of rowing on the River Cam
- Allow approx 3-3.5 hours for this experience

- Minimum age 13 for this rowing experience
- Participants must be able to swim at least 20 metres in clothing (precaution only - not expecting anyone to fall into the river!)
- Minimum weight: 38kg
- Not suitable for spectators due to the nature of this activity
