Blacksmith Experience Day In The Peak District
About the experience
Become a blacksmith and learn how to work metal by enrolling in a course in the Peak District! At this magnificent country forge close to the sleepy village of Elton, in the heart of the Derbyshire Peak District, we are providing full-day courses in blacksmithing. These classes are led by professional blacksmiths with a focus on ornamental metalwork. They undertake individual contracts, produce works of art, and organise workshops to instruct beginners in blacksmithing techniques.
- A full-day blacksmithing course in the Peak District
- Purpose-built forge near the village of Elton
- Hosted by expert blacksmiths Jessica, Phil and Tim
- Create a forged metal piece to take home with you
- Introduction to general blacksmithing skills
- Create your own masterpiece to take home with you
- Examples of items you can create are coat hooks, toasting forks, fire pokers, chestnut roasters, door knockers
- PPE, tools, materials and fuel for the forges are included
- Lunch, snacks and drinks are included
- Groups of up to 12 people can be accommodated
General Itinerary
09:30 - Meet in the forge for a health and safety talk
10:00 - Light the firesand first demonstration
11:00 - Break time with pork pie (or alternatives) and drinks
13:00 - Well deserved lunch
15:30 - On the go break with drinks
16:30 - Forges off
Information
- Selected weekdays and weekends throughout the year
- Courses start at 09:30 finishing around 17:30
- Dates are subject to availability
- Not suitable for spectators
Minimum Age: 12 years
- Minimum age 12
- Under 18s must be accompanied by a participating adult
- Jeans, T-Shirt and jumper are recommended (no fleeces)
- Suitable sturdy foot wear should be worn i.e. Steel toe-capped boots or walking boots
- Jewellery should not be worn and long hair must be tied back
