Honeybee Experience in Lancashire
About the experience
Want to get a taste of how delicious Lancashire honey is made? This Honey Bee experience will let you do just that, with a guided tour around The Bee Centre. Set within two acres of gorgeous wildflower meadows that’s surrounded by hedgerows and woodland, The Bee Centre is in Brindle, which is easily accessible from Preston and Chorley. Not only do they produce honey in jars, but they also provide the honey which is used in the Cuckoo Sunshine Gin, which is distilled at the nearby Brindle Distillery. The honey perfectly complements the raspberry in the gin, and is a summery tasting memento of the bees’ hard work during the warmer months. As well as breeding bees at the centre, the beekeepers here also run regular beekeeping training sessions for both novices and professionals, as well as a strong focus on creating bee friendly habitats - and on this experience you’ll get an insight into all the work the passionate and dedicated team do. You’ll also be kitted out in a full beekeeping suit, so between that and getting to look inside the hive, you’ll feel like a fully fledged beekeeper. You’ll see how the honeycomb is constructed, be able to point out the Queen Bee and even witness - and this is really a thing - their waggle dance. Getting to see exactly where honey comes from and how bees make it is really quite special. Plus with a chance to taste the honey itself, nothing could be sweeter!
