About the experience
Book a full day at a professional forge to make a hand forged axe with this Axe Making Course in Carmarthenshire. After being welcomed with an introduction to the forge you will be shown all the tools and materials you need for the workshop and be provided with safety equipment (safety glasses, hearing protection, apron etc). In the process of making your axe there will be 3 parts, the first being forging out the axe, the second is heat treating the axe and the third is shaping and halfting. Your instructors will guide you in each step so you can make a perfect axe. After your day in the forge you can take your new handmade axe home with you!

- Forge and haft your very own hand axe
- The day is split into three parts, forging out the axe, heat treating the axe and shaping and hafting
- By the end of the day you will have a fully working axe to take home with you
- Comfortable clothing should be worn (no nylon or synthetics) Jeans and T-Shirts are ideal
- Safety boots or walking boots are suitable (no open-toed footwear)
Minimum Age: 16 years
- Selected Saturdays throughout the year
- Courses start at 09:00 finishing around 17:30/18:00
- Dates are subject to availability
- Under 18s must be accompanied by a participating adult
- A good, general level of fitness is required
- You will form part of a small group of 8 people for this experience
- Not suitable for spectators
