About the experience

With this gift voucher you can choose an Airfield from one of the available nationwide locations to have a 30 minute Flying Lesson. There is no better way to take the first steps to getting your wings. On arrival you will be welcomed and given a pre flight briefing. Your lesson will be in a 2 seater light aircraft such as a Piper or Cessna. You will be given the opportunity to take the controls and fly the plane yourself. Your friends or family will be able to watch you taking off and landing from the viewing area and take plenty of photos of your first time in the pilot's seat. So dust off those aviators you have and get ready to take to the skies.

Suitable For

The minimum age for a flying lesson is 14 years old
Under 18s must be accompanied on the airfield by an adult
Height restrictions: minimum 4ft 6ins, maximum 6ft 4ins
Maximum weight of 14 stone (take a look at lessons in four-seater aircraft for higher weight limits)
Please bring two forms of identity, including a photo id, e.g. a passport
Flight lessons are all at Civil Aviation Authority-approved clubs

On arrival all the staff were very friendly and helpful answering any questions we had. The flight itself was amazing with our route being over Portsmouth and the solent. My son was given a flight experience for his birthday at North Weald. Due to weight restrictions he was up-graded to a 4 seater plane. When we arrived we found that the rest of our party were able to fly with him as there were spare seats. This was a fantastic experience in itself. Everyone at the flying school was friendly and very helpful. The pilot Martin was friendly and a very good instructor. I have not seen my son so excited in a long time he was still talking about it days later. We had a great day out and would recommend the experience to everyone.

Had great day at Hull aero club Beverley Peter my flight instructor was very friendly and most helpful,before take off and during my test flight he was very informative in flight of what the gauges were for and i was also able to use all the controls and get the feel of how the aircraft performs and he explained everything to me as this was happening. It was difficult to get in touch with Solent Flight to begin with but once it was booked their staff were all incredibly warm and friendly. You can tell that flying was everyone's passion and the instructor (I had Stuart) was absolutely amazing. Definitely worth making sure you get a good day weather wise but an unforgettable experience and I will definitely be flying again. Well worth 5 stars!

Things got off to a bad start when I tried to book a flight with a company near Stratford upon Avon. After numerous attempts to fix up a date eventually kicked them into the long grass and went with Compton Abbass Airfield. Found them very helpful and efficient and all went smoothly. The actual flying experience was fantastic and if things had been more organised I would have given a 5. I was supposed to fly at half one but didnt get into the air until 3 o clock. Before this apart from the long wait when I got to the plane it looked as though it had seen better days. Whenthe instructor checked the oil the cap had been left off and there was oil everywhere and therewas no fuel in it. So eventually he radioed someone and they brought a decent plane over. It was a brilliant day spoiled by lack of organisation. I know it was extra busy due to the nice weather but surely they must know this and be more prepared for it.

I received this as a present, the booking was easy and the staff friendly, my pilot put me quickly at ease and answered my many questions he demonstarted stalls and glides as well as a tight turn so I could experience a few G forces. A great half hour.

I was very apprehensive about my 30 minute flight. The pilot was very kind, and taking the controls was really exciting. The only part which was less enjoyable was the landing as there was some turbulence. I was disappointed that I did not receive a certificate, and that it did not count towards becoming a qualified pilot.

Absolutely fantastic 30 minute flying experience with Kevin Whitehead at Perth Airport. I couldn't have asked for a better instructor. Everything was smooth from booking through Elaine and the regular dialogue from Kevin to answer and questions I may have had. They even arranged the weather and flew me over a route I requested. A brilliant experience. I changed my half hour flight to one hour. It was a beautiful evening, warm sunny with some clouds. To see south Devon in all its glory was indescribable. Ian, my lovely pilot, explained all the buttons, and obliged willingly to take me to Teignmouth, my home area. We Folllowed the Exe River to Dawlish Warren, along the coast to Teignmouth and along the Teign and right over my family home. Truly an experience to treasure forever in my 70th year!

My daughter bought me this voucher for my borthday and I chose to go to Mid Wales Airport. After a false start due to bad weather which meant they couldn't fly that day we rearranged the flight and second time around the weather was much better and I had a wonderful flight over mid Wales with Nick James who was a brilliant pilot and made me feel at ease, allowing me to fly the plane and showing me all the various points of intetest including Powis Castle and lakes Bala and Vernwy. A really enjoyable experience ! The friendly pilot was instructive and competent. He allowed me to take the controls for around 5-10 mins and was very relaxed with some of my less than smooth manoeuvres. It was a clear day so the views were amazing. Highly recommended as a short fun experience !

I did a 30 minute flight with solent flight. Absolutely brilliant. The female instructor was amazing . We flew over Portsmouth and back to the grass airfield.i was able to be hands on which made the experience perfect. Bucket list is getting shorter . Thankyou solent flight for an amazing experience

An excellent flying experience with ANT Flying Training at Blackpool airport, tutored by Russell. The flying club itself has a relaxed, homely and welcoming feel. A quick introduction to the Cessna 150 control surfaces, instruments and controls and off we went. Russell took care of the throttle, comms with ATC and trim while I was given responsibilty for altitude and heading. We were lucky to have a beautiful day with great visibility and only light wind. All in all, a wonderful experience.

A fantastic experience with Hal at V1, just a brilliant opportunity to get hands on and take the controls. I cannot recommend V1 highly enough. They were so friendly and put me at ease immediately. I cannot wait to fly again!

An amazing experience couldn't recommend highly enough even got to take over the controls for a short period. If your lucky enough to have the opportunity to have a go.... go for it. You won't be disappointed the pilot is so friendly and knowledgeable and puts you at ease.
